The APOE gene encoding for Apolipoprotein E is a critical risk gene for developing Alzheimer’s disease. By combining iPSC and CRISPR/Cas9 technology, EBiSC, in collaboration with IMI-ADAPTED, is able to provide a set of isogenic iPSC lines with either an APOE KO, an APOE-ε2/ε2, an APOE-ε3/ε3, an APOE-ε3/ε4 or an APOE-ε4/ε4 genotype, which could help in dissecting the contribution of each genetic APOE variant to the risk or protection of developing AD.
